MANATEE MOTHER Cold Cast Bronze

This is a manatee and baby sculpture, it was done for the Key  West gallery.  In Australia we have a relative of the manatee called the dugong, which is similar, but the tail of a dugong is shaped like a whales tail, whereas the manatee has a rounded tail.  The dugongs are a bit more streamlined as well.  Foot has done a 3 metre high dugong for his home town of Airlie Beach, in black Whitsunday marble. A few bronzes have been made from this, and it is possible to have this bronze done as a manatee as well
