FISH BUTTERFLY Aqua Cast Marble

The Butterfly Fish was another quest by Foot to see how far he could take the local Whitsunday marble that had just been discovered. What started out as a ‘flake’ of hard black marble, was fashioned into this  life sized butterfly fish.  The back end of the piece, where the holes are, gets thinner and thinner, but to his delight, the stone took the detail and held together nicely.  The castings are even tougher, as the resin locks the marble particles together better than the crystal structure found in nature.

But the real attribute of this piece is the astounding colour, for anyone who has experienced the splendor of the coral reef, this piece is a great reminder of that beauty.
